HQPlayer - gain compensation in pipeline matrix

I’ve seen a good tip by @jussi_laako , if you want to check if you have sufficient gain compensation set in HQPlayer.

You can use REW (free) to easily generate a .WAV file frequency sweep

Play this file through HQPlayer and watch the “Limited” counter while playing the file.

Best to turn off amplifier while playing this file. Or at the very minimum turn volume all the way down, just to avoid any potential for clipping speakers/headphones.

If Limited stays at 0, then you have enough gain compensation in HQPlayer. If not, then reduce gain number in pipeline matrix until Limited stays at 0.

I have another Matrix Pipeline question. I have downloaded the ParametrixEq.txt file for my Focal Radiance & loaded that into HQP Pipeline channel 1 + 2.

If I plot the graph, then the shape looks correct but it is offset by about 4.5dB from the AutoEq plot. It sounds fine.

What is wrong or going on here - what have I done wrong?

Thanks.

It is normalized to 0 dBFS by the preamp gain specified in the AutoEq file, so that it doesn’t cause clipping / limiting.

Nothing… It is correct.

Ah, yes - I see -5.03dB in the .txt file.
Thanks again Jussi.
