HQPlayer NAA through VPN for car use - like Roon ARC for HQPlayer world

I’ve been having fun with Roon ARC in my car (with EQ corrections for my speaker system).

I used the Tailscale VPN method really easily, not using the port forwarding method for ARC. Very simple to get it working

Is there a simple way to get HQPlayer in the car using Tailscale VPN?

Any tips how to get it working? Even another VPN?

Unfortunately with Roon ARC you can’t have separate left and right channels EQ.

So far working well but want to take it to next level.

OpenVPN running in ethernet frame capture mode should work. This way it looks like a VPN bridge network adapter to the OS.

I don’t see mention of ethernet frame capture mode but is it basically this?

Yes, exactly that one. So it works below IP layer on ethernet frames, unlike most VPNs. This allows computers behind VPN appear just like they would be on the same physical network.

I think to avoid desktop UI in the car, I will just put a fanless machine in the car and run server on it.

Hotspot Wifi from my phone. Hopefully will boot quick.

I can power a fanless machine from 12Vdc cigarette outlet (rated for 120W in car user manual).

I can use this HDMI to Apple Carplay adapter and avoid bluetooth.

Will be limited to 44.1kHz.
