HQPlayer Ropieee, simultaneous play via two ISB DACs

The new Ropieee FW enables to connect two USB DACs. I use the RP4 Ropieee as a NAA.

How can I configure Roon, HQPlayer and Ropiee to have these two DACs play simultaneously?

One DAC (main) is the TT2, the other is AQ Cobalt, driving two VU meters.

I can see each of the two NAAs via my Hqplayet output settings, but cannot have them both. Separately each one works fine

Thanks

I don’t know about Ropieee, but NAA 5.1.x supports any number of inputs/outputs. You can combine multiple outputs per NAA and multiple NAAs to form N-channel output device. This is through the new “combo” backend in HQPlayer.

If you combine for example two stereo output devices, you get a four channel output device as result. You can then use HQPlayer’s matrix processor to route and process the channels the way you like.

I tried selecting Combo on the hqplayer output settings, but then I cannot see and select my NAA.

Should I have two instances of Hqplayer?
I have two NAAs, in RP4 8GB. One with ropieee wjivh is currently connevted to the TT2. one is Rp4 with image 513.

Thanks for your support.

So the combo editor doesn’t show any available outputs? And NAA in question is 5.1.x?

No…

Thanks
I did install two NAAs in my mesh network
NAA1 is RP4 with Ropieee NAA connected to Hugo TT2 via usb
NAA2 is a another RP4 installed with NAA image version 513, connected to USB-IN of my Eversolo A6 (its dac supports up to 768khz PCM.
Both NAAs were detected by Hqplayer under the COMBO option.
Only the NAA chosen first (in the combo list of outputs) plays music. It is either NAA1 or NAA2. Probabely Hqplayer is not configured right in both or either the Output tab ans the COMBO option (i.e. values in channels, trigger, whatever). Is it also related to settings in the PCM tab? Currently I use the sinc-MGa?

I would like to have both the TT2 and the Eversolo dac play simultaneously.

Please advise

Thanks again.i

First remember to set number of output channels to 4 in HQPlayer settings. Then in matrix setup, route source channels 1 and 2 also to output channels 3 and 4.

So the number of channels in the Outputs tab should be 4.

How and where in Matrix setup, do I route source channels 1 and 2 to output channels 3 and 4? Please, can you elaborate how? which fields? Could not find anything related under the Matrix tab.

This is how it should look like:

Setting number of channels to 4 in the Outputs tab, results in Hqplayer crashing. Only 2 does not cause a crash.
I did follow your Matrix pipeline settings the Default parameter at the top cannot be chosen from a list. It might be a user defined name for storing a matrix configuration.

Compared to your screenshot, I have more than four lines on the upper table, does it matter?

Thanks for the support.

You need as many channels as the combo backend has…

Not really, this can be adjusted from the Advanced tab in settings (number of pipelines).

Thanks
I have two 2 channel NAAs each with a DAC. So total number of channels should be 4. Where should i configure it? On the outputs tab? On the Combo screen? On both?
Tried these all. On the Output screen, hqplqyer crashes. In the Combo screen, it always revert to 2 .

Please assist

On combo screens, the settings are for each selected output device:

So if you select one of the outputs chosen for combo device, you can set additional parameters for it using the settings below (those apply for the device selected on the right “Output devices” list). By default it is two channels, since stereo devices are most common.

On output tab it is total number of output channels and should be 4 if you have configured two stereo output devices for the combo:

With these settings I don’t get any crash…

Thank you very much for your support.
First i will limit the number of pipes to 4.
Then i will set the combo, as in your screen.
Then i will mix the channels matrix pipes.
Will report.

Thanks again
Much appreciated

Sent you email with my screens and a log for each NAA configuration

Issue solved
The problem was overloading Hqplayer on my server (shared with Roon server).my current sever is i5 older generation with 8gb ram ddr3.
When moving to sinc-S (from sinc-MGa, everything works.
One NAA Ropieee machine feeds the TT2 and provides display. The 2nd NAA, feeds the A6 via usb-in to ebable VU-Meters.

Thanks Jussi for your detailed and patient support.
