I’m not able to connect JPlay to HQPlayer Desktop on MacOS

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask, but I’m not able to connect JPlay to HQPlayer Desktopn on MacOS. JPlay discovers the server, but does not connect to it nor does it play to it. All three devices are connected to the same mesh network (Asus).

Try this:

JPlay App
Settings
Audio Output
Add
(Enter computer IP address)

This worked for me on my Windows PC

It doesn’t work for me (regardless of adding the port number or not).

Definitely not the right place to post here about jplay. Anyway there are a number of folks reporting issues with connection with mesh network hopefully it will get fixed in the later updates but you can try this:

In windows, make sure network type is private not public, go into firewall settings and make sure hqplayer 5 is allowed.

If the hqplayer output icon is greyed, press the refresh button and switch back and forth between iPhone and back to the hqplayer icon to refresh connection

I don’t own a windows machine.

Jplay app on my Ipad…

Are you on latest HQPlayer version?

Then it can connect to it … but you need to have a upnp mediaplayer running on your network too …

Except of course if you are playing from Qobuz or Tidal. I personally use it primarily for Tidal, since it works nicely with the Tidal playlists and auto-generated “for you” lists.

I think so. It’s 5.9.0.1.

It can, but it doesn’t.

Can you post a screenshot of your audio output settings?
And … are you trying to play local music (which upnp mediaserver are you using) or from Tidal/Qobuz?

Just Tidal. Here are the relevant screenshots.

It seems all correct … do receive some kind of error when you try to play something?
Have you allowed remote control on your HQP Desktop?

That is checked. Here’s the error:

Do you perhaps have Private address checked in your iPhone Wi-Fi settings?

I might. I’m not home right now. However, HQPDcontrol works with no problems on the same iPhone, under the same circumstances.

It is the same problem as others have (includibg me).
There is the following workqround, or better walk-around.
Bring your iPhone in the close neighbourhood of your main router. Start the Jplay app over again. Normally, not only will your HQPlayer software be detected, also the configuration will be loaded.
As long as you use the app you can move back to the places you normally use it to listen to your music.
Works for me.

FYI

I’ll try it when I get home and report back. Thank you!
