I have done all the steps for creating a watched folder for iTunes and i see the watched folder in my storage tab. But there is no music in my library. When I try to add the folder to my library it says it has already been added.
You may need to force the scan to start.
From the 3 horizonal lines (upper left corner of the screen)
Settings →
Storage
Find your path; Using the 3 button pulldown in the right select force rescan.

I tried forcing the rescan. still nothing shows up.
would you show a screenshot to your path?
or of the error you’re getting?
If it says it exists, and you were able to rescan it. Try deleting it and starting fresh?

What does your home page look like? Nothing shows up there?
Ok, A very cursory look shows HLS is a streaming encapsulation. It isn’t currently supported within Roon.
Is there a way i can convert these files to an acceptable one without affecting my apple music library?
I am unaware of any, but I havent had a need to. Google returns unpromising results. Will iTunes let you export them in a more usable format? I’m assuming you’re using that to play them now.
Will VLC convert them? That application is pretty great.

FLAC is pretty common now and is lossless.
This is subject to a whole lot of opinions!
I think a general theme is that users love FLAC but AAC, AFLAC, and WAV are favorites as well. The vast majority of my collection is lossy MP3 unfortunately but I’m ripping new CDs as I get them and working on that!

If i were to start over. how would i connect my apple iTunes music to roon
Majority of my music is stored in an apple music subscription. I understand that purchased music from iTunes can be upload to the roon and i have done that successfully. but is there a way to connect to roon to stream the music from apple music?

At this time we offer a Tidal and Qobuz integration into Roon. We are always looking for new partnerships with streaming services though!

These files are for streaming by Apple Music only. It’s not really your music, it’s Apple’s music.
