The issue here is obvious. Roon Support has an open ticket on this and says it’s working on a fix, but I’m starting to seriously doubt it.
I listen to FLAC-quality Blues Radio, Radio Paradise and J&B Radio throughout the day, and every time I hear a song that I like but don’t know and go looking to check the metadata, it’s either AWOL completely or it’s showing metadata for music that played when I first switched to the streaming station.
So much for great music discovery!
I love Roon, but this is the sort of thing that causes me periodic HATRED of Roon. The potential here is immense, but the reliability and consistency over the 2 years I’ve been a subscriber nearly qualifies for subpar.
Maybe I’m irked by this for the fact that I just recently paid for another annual subscription, at the higher rate, and the service is not meeting my reasonable expectations.
But not really. The money doesn’t bother me, and I’d be inclined to pay the lifetime membership fee, but it’s lax quality and shrugging followthrough such as this that gives me serious pause.
Ditto my reluctance to recommend to friends and colleagues.
Because this sort of thing causes me to seriously doubt that Roon Labs has serious staying power.
Maybe Roon needs more and better competition.
