Roon Server Machine
Hi,
I have a NUC w10 equipped with an i7 processor and 256gb memory.
What improvements… noticeable… would I appreciate in exchanging it for the Nucleous One?
Thanks

Its difficult to say because the precise hardware spec of the Nucleus One has not been published but I would imagine that the NUC 10 with an i7 is probably a better Roon platform than the Nucleus One.
The NUC 10 with an i7 processor likely won’t be as capable as the later i7 NUCs or the Nucleus Titan but it is definately a capable platform.
If you are thinking about audio quality, you are looking in the wrong place. Provided you are not using DSP features beyond the capabilities of the processor (such that it can’t keep up), there will be no difference in audio quality. Not even Roon claim any difference in this respect.

If I recall correctly the Nucleus One has a quad core Intel Celeron CPU and 8 gb of RAM. Sound quality wise there won’t be a difference. Performance wise I don’t think it won’t be (very) different either.
The One currently ships with 4GB of Ram not 8GB, same as the old Nucleus, 8GB in the Titan.
I can confirm it has 4GB RAM. Or mine did as I had a spare 16GB of DDR4 RAM and tried dropping it in. Definitely snappier search now. Now considering cloning the M2 drive as I have a spare that is faster than the one included.
