Does it present as a multichannel mix?
It absolutely can with DSP and head tracking. Easier with headphones, harder with speakers, but 100% doable.
3D audio effects are a group of sound effects that manipulate the sound produced by stereo speakers, surround-sound speakers, speaker-arrays, or headphones. This frequently involves the virtual placement of sound sources anywhere in three-dimensional space, including behind, above or below the listener.[1]
Yes playback through my Nvidia Shield and sounds really good
Sure, but I thought the topic was playing the immersive album in stereo.
And I’ll reiterate: if the stereo recording is binaural and listened to with headphones, it’s in the immersive category.
I see, I always forget to take headphones into account because I don’t like them
Same here. Besides, if it was a binaural release, it would be so labeled.
I’ve installed the Apple Music app on my TV. The Sonos app is showing Dolby Multichannel PCM 2.0.
My surrounds are deployed elsewhere currently. Hmm.
Via the Qobuz app (had to subscribe for another month ) is Stereo PCM.
Tidal started streaming ATMOS in 2019 but Roon still does not have the capability to play it.
No word on why from them. Been total silence for 6 years
Maybe they consider it a niche feature within a niche community. But all 12 of us disciples would love it
If you have multiple AirPlay devices you could do a super Roon group. Let the audio go out of sync (as it does) and you have pseudo atmos
I have tried this across multiple devices downstairs between living room conservatory and garden and it didn’t take long for the wife to shut it down. It was quite psychedelic as some of it was up to about a second behind. She was not amused
LOL. Every Roonie is special, I’d guess
Thank you so much for the tip! I only came across Anette Askvik three weeks ago – while preparing for a sailing trip along the Norwegian coast. Apparently, her music fits perfectly with the cold, rainy weather, whether in stereo or immersive audio.
I noticed two unpleasant things again that Roon hasn’t changed in years: If you have multiple versions of an album in your library, only a single version (presumably the most recently added) is displayed in the main view. To see all versions of an album in your library, you have to open the album and click on the “Versions” tab. This is completely pointless and should finally be changeable with an options switch.
The second thing is that for Tidal albums, the release date of the respective version/mix is not displayed, but rather the original release date. Combined with the first problem, this is pretty annoying.
Unfortunately not, because different versions or releases of an album are not flagged as duplicates by Roon - which is obviously correct…
It should help though, because this switch moves versions to the top level of album view, side by side. Have you tried?
Oops, I missed this one. Thanks for the pointer, works!
