Imported music files are not reflected correctly in roon

Roon Core Machine

Newbie here Just purchased a roon nucleus. Added a 2tb internal ssd. I have music that I have presently on a seagate external 1TB hard drive. All of the cds were “ripped” using windows media player. over the last several years. As each cd was ripped if there were incorrect tags I manually added them within windows media player.

during initial setup, connected the external hard drive directly to the nucleus. When the nucleus finished its scan it only showed 3 cds.
tried doing the drag and drop from my PC (downloaded the roon core) Pulled up the external hard drive ( now connected to the windows based laptop) did the drag and drop of the “Music” folder over to roon. The files were transferring, but there were only 45 albums showing up and under a unique album there were hundreds of songs under one album “banner”

What am I doing wrong?

Description of Issue

Did you rip the CDs to Windows Media Audio Lossless format? Roon doesn’t support that.

I had this problem. Had to convert them all to flac using jriver. Dbpoweramp will also convert them.

Not sure what format but I did use windows media player to rip them.

Can i find jriver or Dbpoweramp on the www??

For a long while, Windows Media did not support flac. So depending on when you ripped them, they could likely be wma format. Look at the extension on the files. Are they .wma?

Anyway, yes you can find jriver and dbpoweramp on the web. I’d recommend dbpoweramp for conversion. Jriver does a lot of stuff you don’t need if you are using roon, plus it doesn’t integrate with streaming services.

Thanks so very much. I did download dBpoweramp and have started the process of converting to FLAC. I did have .wma file format. Working really well I did the highest conversion setting and it takes about a minute or less to convert an album/cd
