Description Of Issue
My music is stored in the Internal Storage of my Nucleus, on a 1TB SSD.
When I first set up the Internal Storage/SSD on the Nucleus, my iTunes Library transferred/synced automatically.
Yesterday I purchased three new songs in iTunes, but when I went to play them on Roon, I couldn’t find them in Roon’s Library…
I have tried the following:
In Roon settings I have forced a rescan.
In Roon settings I have enabled Options/Import iTunes Playlists.
In iTunes setting I have enabled 'Share iTunes Library XML.
I have tested the XML file in iTunes (as per instructions in Roon Knowledge Base) The three new songs are in the XML file.
I have manually copied/paste the XML file to the Internal Storage folder of Nucleus.
After all the above, the three new songs/files do not appear in my Roon Library.
Please can you help me?
The original purchases are on my iMac…Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music.
It took me a while, but I managed to get them into the Nucleus Internal Storage, then onto Roon. I had to use a third party app to change the metadata though, as Roon couldn’t display them.
Please could you advise me, should the iTunes XML file be placed/located in Nucleus/Storage/Internal Storage, (where the Artist folders are, or in the iTunes Folder itself?
I created a new ‘Network Share’ (Music/iTunes) in Roon, I then enabled ‘File Sharing’ (Music/iTunes) on my iMac. This has worked! Please see the attached screenshots.
I still have no idea what the deal is with the iTunes XML file, where in Roon storage it’s meant to be located etc… but I have found a workaround. Do you see any issues doing it this way?
I’m glad you got it working with the network share!
To clarify, the XML file needs to be in the same location as your iTunes library, which then needs to be a watched folder in Roon. You can continue to use Roon + iTunes this way, or you can move your iTunes library to the Nucleus drive (similar to what is described here).
