can you see the difference between 2nd and 3rd screenshot? the first downselects and gives me only the 3rd symphony; while the last one just goes to the album without downselecting; both are multi disc box sets; strange
this is a.o. a 113 cd box set; not sure if it can be reproduced with one CD out of those 113; so i’ll try to reproduce with another example and provide files tomorrow or day after
I have sent the files over; the specific album also exists as a separate release, so, that’s the one I am sending over. However, the problem is not in the files, imho; see below, and this is an issue across the board. I have numerous cases. When “properly” (if you can call it like that) identified, it does “work”.
I found out something new; I do not believe this is a tagging problem, since I tried a lot of things, BUT, I do see different behaviour depending on what the album is identified as by ROON and I have multiple albums that seem to suffer from the same issue
by default the album seems correctly identified, as you can see in the first screenshot, BUT it does not show Compositions in Focus, just Composer and Performer, when using the DEFAULT ROON identification.
However! I found out that the album exists another time in the ROON database (2015), when I identified the album against THAT entry (exactly the same files), it DID show me the full view; NOTE: this ROON album entry does not have any track details from itself, so left side will be just taking over the right side, from the files
I believe the above can lead to the source of the problem; I’m not the expert, but I don’t think multibox, tagging, compilation or other has anything to do with this, it’s really ROON under the hood (that almost rhymes!) and how it handles metadata on Compositions
I am adding multiple screenshots; A. album as identified by ROON by default B. a few showing the identification against the release of 2015 (no tracks); both are ‘CD Release’; key here of course, is the difference of the Focus options, between the 2 different identifications, as you can clearly see on the screenshots of the Album with Focus On
just like for the single album in previous comment, I got this to also work for the multibox set, but I do not consider this solved, since I would assume that ROON also makes this work with the default identification with the album, and that you don’t have to manually identify it to the “alter ego” of the album, without the track details
screenshots: multibox sets with the default identification (1 and 2), then the same with the manually selected identification
so, just to be complete, because that’s where this started, initially; when now zooming in on a Composition; Focus is On; but as stated, based on the above, we cannot consider this solved
Thank you for those details. We are planning to discuss your findings with the team and we will revert back to you after we’ve had a chance to discuss internally, thanks!
They will reopen the previous thread when they have something to say. (They have an internal issue tracker and they don’t rely on forum threads staying open in the meantime).
