I have set up ROCK on NUC, TIDAL and alternate between 2 Windows 11 PCs as Roon remotes. One PC is a laptop (A) and the other is an ultra-compact PC (B). Either A or B is connected to iFi micro iDSD Signature DAC via USB at anytime. Funny problem is when using Roon on A, MQA files are recognized at source, decoded and rendered with the iFi LED lit magenta. When using Roon on B, MQA files are not recognized with the iFi LED lit green.
Thanks for writing in and welcome to the community! Sorry to hear about your MQA issues, its interesting that you’re only seeing it on one of your two PCs.
To confirm, can you check if MQA Core Decoder is enabled under Advanced Settings for the issue PC?
With that, ensure Roon is running the DAC in Exclusive Mode (Settings → Audio → Device Setup → Exclusive Mode = Enabled).
Have you tried switching between WASAPI and ASIO drivers (if available) to see if one works better?
It may be worth updating the iFi USB drivers on the affected PC by downloading the latest version from iFi’s website.
On the issue Windows, disable Windows Spatial Sound (if enabled).
And lastly, have you tested out using a different USB port on the PC?
Fixed the issue. Basically I changed device MQA setup from Decoder and Renderer to Renderer only, switched to WASAPI mode, closed and restarted Roon. Et voila! MQA source authenticated, stream decoded and rendered, and iFi LED magenta. Important to restart Roon after making the changes to get MQA working on B.
