Incorrect/Generic Album Artwork from ImageCache [Resolved]

is anyone else having artwork issues? Roon is randomly changing artwork on albums to non-standard images … I noticed this a few days ago and changed them all back but they’ve reverted to non standard images again. I’ve also stopped and started Roon server … see attached, the image shows correctly on Tidal.

I have Roon server running on Synology 920+ and Tidal music.

Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks !

another example … roon says its showing the preferred Roon version but it doesn’t !

If you have Settings>Artwork set to ‘Prefer Best’ , Roon may find a higher definition image than your chosen one and ‘upgrade’ it .

Some releases have different images for different markets . The classic is the US sanitised Blind Faith cover

setting are Prefer Roon generally rather than prefer best … honestly I would say 50% of my artwork is affected, some just changed for colour saturated versions of the same album cover … bad quality really.

For someone with OCD this is driving me crazy and it would have been nice if Roon had responded with some advice rather than just moving the original post …

In fairness the move was to an area monitored by support, they ONLY monitor this section so anywhere else it would be ignored. That was a good move.

I’m also experiencing issues with the artwork on some of the albums (Tidal). This started recently and I have yet to find a way to fix this.

For example, where the Tidal app shows (and Roon used to show up to a few days ago):

Roon will now show this, and there is no alternative available:

That Harold Land “The Fox” cover, really? Are others experiencing this?

For a few covers, the colours are screwed up…..

Hi everyone,

We’ve confirmed that these discrepancies are caused by recent backend changes, specifically to the ImageCache service. Our team is busy implementing a fix. Generic cover images are returned instead of the streaming service-specific album image.

We’ll post here once we’ve made the change to correct this behavior. Artwork should be restored after an additional 72 hours once the fix is live (this is the length of the image cache).
