When scrobbling to Last.fm, Roon is submitting non-latin artist names incorrectly.
For example, in my library I have an artist set to Alla Pugacheva, and on all albums and tracks, the primary artist is Alla Pugacheva. When the data is sent to Last.fm it is displayed as Алла Пугачёва. I do not have auto-corrections on, and this issue does not occur when scrobbling with other apps like Apple Music, Spotify, or Plex.

Thanks for sending over the files. I was able to reproduce the issue on my test server, so I’ve created a ticket to bring this to our developers. We’ll follow up here as soon as we hear back from them. Thanks in advance for your patience!
Thanks for your continued patience. I checked in with our development team about your case—they’d like to take a closer look, but in the meantime, they asked me to pass along a question that could help narrow things down:
Have you noticed this behavior when scrobbling from apps other than Roon?
Let us know when you get a chance, and we’ll continue from there.
Thanks for providing that additional information—it’s been very helpful.
Our product team has reviewed this case and confirmed that the behavior you’re seeing is expected based on the current implementation. That said, your post (along with others we’ve seen) highlights some important limitations with this approach, and the team is now actively reevaluating it to determine a better solution.
We really appreciate your patience and feedback. I’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear more from the team.
To elaborate on the above, here’s the conclusion from our product team:
Last.fm has inconsistent data for artists whose catalogues are listed under both Western and Cyrillic names, including this artist. (she has both a Latin and Cyrillic page in Last.fm). Roon scrobbles native artist names for consistency - in this case, we’re scrobbling to the Last.fm page with the most entries, which is the expected behavior given an unclear distinction in the data from Last.fm itself.
Unfortunately, in this particular case, that means the scribble itself and Roon’s display show two different character entries for this artist. These edge cases are precisely how we inform and update our product decisions, so if you feel strongly about this, please consider posting your suggestion in the Feature Suggestions category.
