I’m building a companion extension for Roon that reads out short, sourced editorial notes (recording/provenance facts, no generated critical commentary) about the track currently playing, on request rather than synced to a precise timestamp.
Three things I haven’t been able to confirm from the existing docs or forum threads, and would appreciate a direct answer on:

Can the extension API inject an external audio stream into an active playback zone — playing alongside or briefly over the current track — the way a voice-over/announcement layer would need to?

I’ve seen it confirmed elsewhere on this forum that writing to a zone’s play queue (inserting an item between two tracks) isn’t currently supported, and that this is an open feature request. Is there a roadmap or timeline for this, even approximate?

As a possible alternative to #2: can a zone be paused between tracks, made to play a single external audio source, and then resume the original queue exactly where it left off — rather than inserting into the queue itself?
Separately: does the extension API support attaching third-party editorial content to a specific catalog entry — including entries from the nugs catalog integrated into Roon?
Any pointers to existing threads or docs I’ve missed would help too — I want to avoid asking something already answered.
