No problem. My question is, "can I download HQPlayer into either of the Nucleus products, and would there be sufficient processing power?
Describe your network setup
Currently have roon+HQplayer integrated on an iMAC. HQPlayer endpoint is an ultraRendu feeding a Linn Selekt audio player. USB from the Sonore. The old 2017 iMac does not have sufficient processing power for DSD, so trying to decide whether the Nucleus is an alternative to a new, mainstream computer.
It is not possible to run HQPlayer (or any other service/executable) on a Nucleus. They are designed to be closed systems.
If you want to run other services, then you would be better off with a more fully featured linux distribution on suitable hardware (or MacOs on a suitable MAC).
Hi @Bruce_Orr,
Thanks for reaching out to us to ask about this. If I understand your question you want to know if a Nucleus is a good choice for DSD. You will need a lot of processing power to do this so you may want something custom. This article goes into specification. Pay attention to the large library, multiroom and DSP section.
I was surprised there seems to be no info at all in the Nucleus manual about how HQPlayer needs to be set up on the local network so that roon in Nucleus can add it.
