Inquiry about Roon OS on Musica Pristina A Cappella III streamer (ref#Y492JT)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

Tell us what's going on

· I just purchased a used musica pristina a cappella lll streamer from The Music Room. It uses Roon as it's operating system. Does that mean I no longer need to use my Sonic Transport i5 w/Roon Rock? It will be arriving in a few days. This streamer is very rare & not much information on it. thanks, Bill

Tell us about your home network

· not needed for my question

The Musica is a Roon Ready streamer, not a Roon server, so you need to continue running the Sonic.

However, if the Sonic is in yoir hi-fi rack, you may move this elsewhere, e.g., next to your router, and place the Musica in the hi-fi rack.

Both should be connected to your home network using Ethernet cables. The Musica will need to be enabled in Roon: go to Settings → Audio, and it will be listed under Roon Ready devices.

Thank you.

Just thought of another question, I have read that it uses Cambio to set up. I tried to go to the site, but it wants a password. Once I have my streamer, can I access the site through Roon?

I sent an e-mail enquiring about a manual for the A Cappella a few days ago, but have heard nothing back so far.

Thanks again,

Bill

What is Cambio?

This doesn’t answer your question as such but it’s more info on the forum.

Here you go

Network Music Player Streamer - A Cappella III.

A fancy name for webUI

Hi, I own an A Cappella III, and it was good while it worked, but after some time it started having reliabilty issues such as software glitches and failure of the usb output. It’s much too expensive given the number of more affordable streamers you can find in the market today. I wouldn’t recommend the streamer today. Just my 2 cents.

Hello @billc5264,

It looks like the community has already jumped in and pointed you in the exact right direction!

To echo mjw’s excellent advice, your SonicTransporter i5 will still be required to act as the “brain” of your system (the Roon Server), while your new A Cappella III will simply receive the audio stream as the player (the Roon Ready endpoint).

As for Cambio, as Mr.Flibble mentioned, that is the manufacturer’s own web-based setup page for the streamer itself, so it is accessed via a web browser rather than directly inside the Roon app.

Since you are waiting for the device to arrive, I just wanted to check in quickly: do you have any lingering questions about the Roon product itself?

thank you, everyone. The streamer arrived today and I am up and running
