Install new SSD into NUC ROCK

Hi there, planning on installing a new empty SSD inside my already running NUC ROCK (currently music from NAS), need some advice (I have no experience with Linux)

  1. Should the SSD be pre-reformatted before being installed into the NUC, or will ROCK automatically recognized new hard drive and ask to format the SSD?

  2. As I rip music from a Windows PC, how do I map the SSD on the ROCK to the Windows PC for file transfer?

Thanks a lot.

  1. Install the drive, browse to the “web administration interface” (http://rock.local), and choose “Format”.

When the status is OK, the drive is ready!

If you don’t see a format option, the drive has not been recognised.

  1. Copy your music files to: \ROCK\Data\Storage\InternalStorage (smb://ROCK/Data/Storage/InternalStorage).

Thanks a million!

Just curious if it is possible to use the ROCK interface to find my NAS and copy the music files over to the ROCK internal storage.

No you need to do it from a PC.

got it, thanks.
