Description Of Issue

I installed Ubuntu on a virtual machine, SSH’d into it from my laptop, ran through the Linux Roon Server installation and have the service running. However when I go to my phone or my laptop and install Roon, it’s unable to find the Roon server. Any suggestions?

Pressed “Help” and was able to manually input the server IP address. It would probably be in the interest of the customers for you to change “Help” to “Advanced” or “Manually input server”

The issue was perhaps that my Roon Server was on another VLAN

Glad you got it sorted.

Roon documentation does make it quite clear that all Roon devices must be on the same subnet and giving a device or server an appropriate IP address surely goes without saying??

That’s clearly not the case if I was able to direct connect by providing the static IP of the server that was on a separate subnet? It’s just Roon is incapable of auto-scanning any subnet other than the one that your device’s network interface is connected to currently.
