Intermittently, music drops off to silence and "Roon lost control over the audio device" appears. This is a new problem in that I've been using Roon and my current system with no problem since my trial period.
Describe your network setup
Internet service is through Frontier optical and Intertek FRx523. I also use Eero Pro 6 for gateway and three additional Eero Pro 6s to increase the wireless signal throughout the house and garage.
I use a MacBook Air as a Roon server. My endpoints are my speakers - 2 Dutch & Dutch 8cs. I have them both plugged into an Eero Pro 6. It is wireless because the system is in a detached garage/man-cave. The connection is fast and strong and I've had no other problems with any other device.
This may be a coincidence, but this problem began around the same time I updated the Ascend software from D&D.
Thanks for sharing your report - it’s good to see you on the community!
Are you able to reproduce the issue using the system output of another one of your Roon remotes, like a mobile device?
Could you temporarily test hardwiring one the endpoints to better rule out any potential network interferences?
Lastly, if you could reproduce the issue, share the track name and then use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon Server logs to our File Uploader, we’ll be able to take a closer look behind the scenes on what might be causing the dropouts.
Hi Benjamin. The problem persists on multiple iPads which I use as remotes.
I have sent the logs over under j[moderated]. Please let me know if they aren’t received. I will attempt to hardwire the endpoints (the speakers themselves) but this may take some work. I attempted to connect an Ethernet cable from a router switch to the speakers via another switch but the message I got was it was unable to initialize the device. Also, the last time it dropped out I was listening to Mac Miller’s DJ Chord organ via Qobuz
Please let me know what else I should try.
One other thing I have found: when I play Roon from the Roon Server, the MacBook Air, there aren’t any interruptions. The MacBook isn’t hard wired and in the same place and on the same network as the Dutch & Dutch. This might narrow it a bit?
Thanks for the update! If you’re primarily having issues on your iPads, have you performed a fresh install on either iPad recently?
If not, remove Roon and re-install it via the app store, and see if you run into the same issues. We’ll take another look at a fresh diagnostic report from one of the iPads for additional clues.
Hi Benjamin. Yes, I uninstall/reinstall Roon on my iPads. Unfortunately, that didn’t help. What did seem to work is I attached the D&Ds and the Eero 6 Pro to a switch all with Cat 6 Ethernet cables. Hopefully, it continues to work!
