Intermittent Connectivity Issue with Nucleus and Roon (ref#GJJ60J)

Affected Product

Nucleus

Nucleus Model

Nucleus Rev B

Description of Issue

Every couple of months Roon just stops working and the Nucleus can’t be found. Usually, I have to unplug the unit and leave for hours, usually about 24 and then plug it back in again. This time even after leaving it for 24 hours Roon still can’t connect to the nucleus. It’s also difficult to tell from the switch if it’s even on as it doesn’t illuminate half the time! Sick of this issue after more than three years. Never have any problems whatsoever with Tidal wherever I am…maybe I should kick Roon into touch and use Tidal exclusively! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Hi @Stephen_Heaven,

Thank you for your patience. We have a few suggestions to remedy the issue as much as possible in the meantime, and some questions to answer at your convenience to help pinpoint the underlying problem.

First off, are there any other active routers in the network chain, or is the Netgear router your main upstream router to reach the internet for the Nucleus? If there are multiple subnets active within the network, the Nucleus discovery and remoting protocols will have difficulty retaining connections to Remotes or endpoints that jump to WiFi on a different subnet. The more detail you can share about your network topology, the better we’ll be equipped to assist you.

Are you able to share a screenshot of the Nucleus web GUI, accessible from a browser?

I’d additionally check for any quality of service, prioritization, or bandwidth throttling settings in your router’s administration page, and see if you can whitelist or prioritize the Nucleus’ static IP.
