Describe the issue

Hi Team,
Recently having some issues connecting to Roon Server through Roon Remote. I currently have Roon Server running on linux, and Roon Remote is on various devices - Windows PC, Android based music player (Fiio R9 and Fiio M23), iPhones (13 and 15) and android devices (Samsung Galaxy Tab and google Pixel 6 Pro and 8 Pro).
All of these devices used to work fine, and is still working fine except for Pixel 8 Pro. It was only around a month ago I had issues with connectivity on Pixel 8 Pro. Sometimes it doesn't connect at all with screen showing the screenshot I selected in the earlier stage of these chain of prompts (Looking for server screenshot), and sometimes, it connects to the Roon Server for few seconds and then goes to looking for server screen.
As far as I know, I have not installed anything new on my phone that would disrupt connection to Roon Server. I tried reinstalling Roon Remote on my Pixel 8 Pro few times, and even signed up for Beta version to see if that made any difference with no luck.
Understanding that it'll be difficult to identify the issue without physically access to the phone, but if you could direct me to where the issue may be would be immensely helpful.
Thank you!

Describe your network setup

Linux Server wired to the ASUS GT-AX11000 wifi router. All mobile devices connected directly to this router.

Turning off IGMP snooping on the router has sometimes helped with that issue in Android<>Linux Roon server connections. I used to see it a lot in 2018 or so, but not since 2019, maybe because I moved and my networking gear changed totally. In any case, my UniFi LAN has IGMP snooping off.

Thanks Fernando!

I’ll have a look at IGMP snooping (honestly have no idea what this is, but I’ll google it!) this evening! However, since it works on some Android devices and it doesn’t on one… I suspect the culprit may be something else. I’ll have a look regardless! Thank you

In your router’s manual, page 115.

When I had this problem back when, it hit different Android devices differently. But as I noted, that was more then 5 years ago.

Oh wow, thank you for finding the reference for me! Will defs have a look - didn’t think it would impact android devices differently. Will report back once I have a play with the settings for IGMP snooping! Thanks heaps for sharing Fernando

Hey @roadwarrior7,

Welcome to the community! We’re excited to have you here. Certainly, let us know how the above goes - we’re not seeing any traces of your Pixel 8 within your account information, which could indicate an issue reaching our upstream servers.

We’ll be on standby for your reply and results! :+1:

Hi Ben!

Thank you for your response! Unfortunately, disabling IGMP Snooping doesn’t seem to be an answer. However, I was playing around with my phone yesterday and realised that Roon works for like first 2~3mins of turning restarting the phone - but soon looses connection. Almost every reboot, it acts the same way. Which suggests that there is something going on on my mobile end rather than being a roon issue…?

What’s your thought on this? Thank you!

Hi @roadwarrior7,
Can you share the Roon logs from your phone using the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
