Remote on IPad and IPhone Connect and Disconnect Sporadically

Ive had mixed success connecting my Roon remotes to my M4 Mac Mini. There was a day in which my iPad stayed connected but my phone did not hold connection once I left the house and came back. I’ve since taken my iPad from the house and returned and I’m experiencing connection issues. I’ve had both IPhone and IPad tell me they cant find the Roon server. I’ve had both iPhone and iPad find the server but stall out in connecting to the server. I’ve restarted the computer which allowed the server to connect to both the iPhone and IPad however within a minute both lost connection and now display a “waiting for your Roon server …” screen. I’ve restarted the computer twice and experienced this short lived connection. Please help .. I would like to use remotes with Roon and forgo having a computer monitor in my hifi setup.

Hi @mattroon,

Thank you for your post.

I’d first verify that the MacOS 15 Sequoia settings aren’t restricting local network access for your RoonServer on this Mac Mini.

In System Settings, navigate to Privacy & Security → Local Network and verify RoonServer has local network permissions toggled on.

You’ve mentioned that you have a Virgin-supplied modem/router combination in your setup. Does your network topology contain any additional network hardware involved with the WiFi, like access points, mesh nodes, or switches?

Hello Connor,

I can confirm that RoonServer is toggled on. Roon is also there toggled on.

I do not have additional network technology involved.

Thanks

Hi @mattroon,

Can you please try toggling it off and then on again? After the Sequoia update a lot of user reported that even though the local network permissions looked toggled on they actually weren’t. Flipping the toggle back and forth will make sure it’s actually on.
