Hi Roon, I'm a new user and I love it. Occasionally I experience drop-outs with hi-res files. I think it's my internet that is not always 500Mbit/s. Can I temporarily switch to streaming 44.1kHz 16bit format? I don't have any problems streaming that. As soon as possible I want to switch back to hi-res of course. Best regards Henrik
Describe your network setup
I use Roon from my MacBook Air (M3). I stream via Tidal to my Primare i35 Prisma amplifier. My internet typically delivers 3-400Mbit/s. Except when falling a bit behind that is.
We’re sorry to hear you’re encountering difficulties. Technical support can enable diagnostics for your RoonServer to examine the particular network failures in logs. As you’ve already ascertained, the error message in your screenshot points to a downstream speed issue with the Tidal API.
You can certainly restrict Tidal to a lower sample rate by either a) changing the quality setting in Settings → Services → Tidal or b) setting a maximum sample rate in the Device Setup for the Zone you’re using. This will be a Zone-by-Zone solution, so you’ll need to repeat this step in Device Setup for each Zone capable of high-resolution playback.
What is the make/model of your main upstream router? The more information you share about the network topology involved between RoonServer → internet, the more precisely we can offer assistance. In general, we recommend ensuring a reliable DNS server is assigned (Google DNS, QuadNine, or Cloudflare) and also disabling any QoS or other managed network rules that might be restricting bandwidth to RoonServer selectively.
Let us know if this helps and we’ll watch for your response!
