after five or six successful backups, i get the following failure message:
Backup failed. Unable to create backup folder.
i delete the backup location, and re-add it, at which point the backup succeeds.
i’ve let this annoying behavior go unreported, hoping that some update would fix it, but after more than a year i think it’s possibly flown beneath the radar.
for what it’s worth, i’m backing up onto an attached external hard-drive, which is itself backed up on backblaze.
After the quick look at the diagnostic data, I wasn’t able to find the traces of the failed backups.
I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
Even with a weekly schedule, backup software can temporarily lock or access the folder at the wrong moment, which may interrupt Roon’s own backup process. For safety, it’s best to disable or pause any third-party backup tools that might interact with the Roon backup directory during Roon’s scheduled backup window.
Great — please keep us updated on how things progress.
If the backup issue occurs again, kindly provide the exact timestamp so we can correlate it with the logs and investigate further.
We’re pinging this thread since we haven’t seen a response in several days. Please let us know if you’re still having issues with Backups within Roon after disabling third-party backup tools enabled on the same backup destination folder.
We’ll watch closely for a response. Without any further replies, this thread will auto-close due to inactivity after several days. Thank you!
This thread is now closing due to inactivity/lack of response. Please create a new tech support request to continue the conversation if you require further assistance. Our team will merge threads accordingly. Thank you!
