Intermittent issues with Danish Radio streaming quality (30 min Delay HLS Stream) (ref#SOI0FP) [Ticket In]

Hi @connor

I was happy to see this fixed, but a little disappointed now

The problems are not fixed. You(Roon) cannot have tested this enough. Right now it works like this:

Start playing one of DR(Denmarks national radio) HLS streams. It correctly starts at the current time. 10 seconds later it jumps back like 45 minutes(this morning at least)

So I think the implementation of HLS is still problematic

Also on another note I notice that you cannot search the HLS stream. So you cannot set the time you want to listen. As you have seen these HLS streams a providing audio back in time. The reason is that you can start listen to a show a little to late and then rewind back to the point you want to listen from (in this 45-60 minutes timeframe they usually provide), but there is now way to actually do that as Roon is working now

I understand the priority is to get it working just playing from current time, but the right implementation would be to have an indicator in the progress bar indicating current time(maybe a red line) and be able to scroll the current playing slider back(and forth also in some situations) in time

I can reproduce this too - but I get the jump back at 20s. (I admit I had never waited long enough in previous testing).

The chunks are 6.82667 seconds long which implies 3 chunks get read ok, before Roon switches to the oldest chunk. But looking at the logs, only the first chunk gets read correctly before Roon switched. Confusing. Anyway, over to @connor

I would also appreciate if you would (continue to?) find a solution to the problem of random stops of the radio streaming (DR P1). It happens much less often than before but still, while Qobuz (at least the Qobuz tracks that does play) plays without random stops for me.

Thank you everyone for the precise reports. We’ll take this back to the team for a closer look. Please stand by.

· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices

Describe the issue

It's really quite simple: I use my Nucleus to hear radio and stream music from Qobuz. The problem is when listening to one of the official 7 radiostations the Danish Radio (the official Danish National Broadcasting Cooperation) is offering, for instance the radiostation DRP5. What happens is this: After exactly 20 seconds of listening the playback of the program jumps back some 30 minutes and continues from there. Actually the problem is described and claimed to be fixed in the release notes to ROON 2.67. However, I have never before encountered the problem - only after upgrading to 2.67!

Hi @Claus_Clemensen,

The latest update contained some work affecting the HLS implementation used by DPR stations. The team will be looking into this further and providing updates here:

I have merged your post into this tracking thread so you can receive notifications.

Thanks for your patience as the team investigates further.

New observation (for me at least): Roon gives me three Danish Radio streams to choose from on each of the six DR-programs. The problem only occurs when I use the AAC-stream (320-329 kbps). The MP3-streams (96-128 kbps) do not have the problem.
