Roon, starts playing then drops. I have to reboot Roon on my Signature Rendu from their ap on my computer. Then is will work. This is an every time situation and i dont have any issues with my WiFi or my Router. I use a SonicTransport with 32g ram and it’s their latest one. I have always had issues from day 1 and have 2 lifetime memberships from you. My gear is from SmallGreenComputer
Describe your network setup
I have Spectrum 5g with their router and mesh network
Thanks for reaching out. Can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track when you next observe this issue? I activated diagnostics for your account and generally speaking, I am seeing quite a lot of networking errors, so I suspect this might be related to your network. Where is the SonicTransporter plugged into, is it into the Spectrum router or the mesh network? What is the model of the mesh network?
We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?
From the diagnostic data, we can see that the connection drops occur primarily on wireless devices such as your iPhone (192.168.1.228) and iPad (192.168.1.193). These endpoints are both connected via Wi-Fi.
Could you please confirm whether you are experiencing similar issues with any wired endpoints? This will help us determine whether the issue is specific to your wireless network.

As the disconnections are limited to Wi-Fi devices, we recommend checking the signal strength and stability of your wireless network. If possible, please try temporarily connecting one of these devices to a different access point to see if the issue persists. This will help us narrow down whether the problem is network-related or endpoint-specific.
I don’t have issue with my IPad or phone on my WiFi. My WiFi strength is always running good, now my cellular service is a different story:(. No matter where I have lived I have always had these drop outs and this morning was off the charts for me aggravation wise as it took me over an hour to get it to work.
Apologies for any confusion @Don_Vannatta are you referring to playing audio from the system output of your iPad or iPhone over wifi, when you don’t notice any dropouts?
I also noticed you’re holding ~400k tracks, which even with 32GB RAM, could potentially be causing some hiccups - if possible, could you temporarily test out using your Roon Server with a smaller library size?
See how things perform with half your library temporarily, and let me know how things perform. Thank you!
I just use the IPad as the remote, I have a Sonora Signature Rendu and SonicTransporter as the server. I have the I7 gen 3 with 32g of ram. I told them how big my library was and he recommended the 32f of ram.
We’ve discussed this with our senior QA and development teams. The team is investigating some possibilities here and, as soon as that investigation is complete, we’ll be sure to follow up ASAP.
You have our apologies for the trouble here, and we’ve greatly appreciated your patience as we continue investigating this tricky issue. We’ll be in touch as soon as we can.
I did reduce the Library size and still experienced the drop this morning after about 3 minutes of play when I restarted it…approx 7:28 this morning 10/18
Diagnostic logging shows a regular, repeating dropout of 1200 samples during playback at 48KHz to the Sonore. The consistency of the dropout suggests its related to a drift compensation, clocking, or buffering process rather than network interference.
As an immediate test, can you please try:
upsampling everything to the Sonore to 96KHz by applying sample rate conversion in MUSE. Please play a few tracks, regardless of whether playback drops out. We’re going to inspect the RoonServer logs to compare network and playback handling.
After this test, please remove the sample rate conversion within MUSE and play several more tracks in Roon.
Thank you for your patience. We’ve enabled automatic logging for your RoonServer, so you don’t need to take any steps beyond the two tests above for our team to make progress.
To confirm, are you only seeing/hearing audio dropouts, or do you notice your endpoint completely disappearing and reappearing when the issue occurs?
We’re seeing a few different errors pop up that ultimately lead to playback stopping:
Trace: [Sonore Signature Rendu SE] [zoneplayer/raat] too many dropouts. stopping stream
Warn: [raat/tcpaudiosource] send failed: Broken pipe
Warn: [raat/tcpaudiosource] disconnecting + retrying
Debug: [raat/tcpaudiosource] disconnecting
Info: [audio/env] [zoneplayer -> stream] All streams were disposed
Following on what Vadim has asked above - is the Rendu hardwired? It’d be great to completely simplify your network setup temporarily, and get a direct ethernet connection from your endpoint to your router, and from your Roon Server to your router.
Let me know if this is something you’re able to do. Thank you!
The endpoint is there just shows Roon dropping signal, I hit play it resumes and then drops again. I have had time where the endpoint disappears but those times are less than the dropping.
Thank you for the update. We’ve collected all the necessary diagnostic data and forwarded it to our R&D team for further investigation. Please stay tuned for further updates.
