· I have had roon for 6 years with absolutly no issues. However, for the last couple of weeks, music sometimes occasionaly skips / stops a tenth of a second before starting again. It doesnt happen often, maybe twice an hour, but it has never happenend before.
I have cabled ethernet all the way from wall to switch, roon nucleus one server, streamer. The problem started a couple of weeks ago, maybe after an update, but im not sure if that has anything to do with it? I didnt change anything in the system around that time. I can of course try to replace every cable, but I wanted to check if there is any known issues first. Any ideas?

Thanks for the report. Can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track when the behavior next occurs? We’ll enable diagnostics to see if there are any clues in the Roon logging.
..it was a short stop / skip sometime between 0.33-0.43 seconds into the track “Slaves” by An Abstract Illusion. I didnt catch the exact second it happened.
Thanks for the timestamp! We reviewed playback from your Roon Server diagnostic report, but didn’t see any error traces or traces relating to skips/stoppages.
If you haven’t yet, could you please power cycle your devices, including your router, and see if the same issue occurs?
Not here to hijack @Bjornvarthr’s thread and request for support, but I’m experiencing the same issue and have rebooted all devices, etc., so this doesn’t appear to be isolated to one user.
i have rebooted everything several times and I havent made any system changes. The glitch rarely happens as i said, but its still something that never happened before, so I really dont understand.
It could have been the case that the small micro-pauses were due to some of our service outages caused by our upstream DNS providers. Things are now stable, so I’d be curious to hear if the same issues occur.
If so, please feel free to share a fresh example and we’ll take another look. Thank you!
We have taken a close look at the exact moment the playback stopped, and the sequence of events is actually quite revealing. The logs show that this was not a network dropout, a buffer issue, or a hardware crash. Instead, the Roon Server received a very specific “Play/Pause” command and then politely instructed your DENAFRIPS to pause the stream.
Essentially, something acting as a remote control intentionally told Roon to pause, but the server logs don’t explicitly name which device sent the trigger.
To help us narrow down the culprit, could you take a look at the devices you use to control Roon and see if any of the following apply?
Bluetooth Headsets or Earbuds: Do you have any wireless headphones connected to the phone, tablet, or PC where Roon is running? Many modern headsets have an “auto-pause” feature (triggering when you take them off) or sensitive touch controls that can accidentally send a global media pause command to the OS.
Smartwatches: Devices like an Apple Watch or Garmin can sometimes take over media controls and inadvertently pause playback if the screen is bumped.
Keyboards with Media Keys: If you leave the Roon app open in the background on a computer, an accidentally brushed (or sticky) Play/Pause media key on your keyboard will pause Roon.
Third-Party Extensions: Are you using any smart home integrations or physical volume dials (like RooDial, Home Assistant, etc.) that might be sending a stray command?
Could you let us know if any of these devices are active in your listening environment, and try temporarily disconnecting them to see if the “ghost pausing” stops?
Sure you didnt just see me stopping the trackafter i heard the pause? These pauses i talk about are only a tenth of a second.
Anyway, i disabled bluetooth and still get the pause. I didnt touch anything when the pause came. it happened at 5.42 oslo norway time around 4 minutes into “Nastavi”
You have my apologies if this has been glazed over, but do you experience these issues when playing audio through the system output of your remote device? For example, the system output from your Windows 11 machine, or your android device.
Yes, i use a win 11 pc as remote over network. The server is nucleus one. Never any problems like this until recently. Turned off bluetooth on pc, but didnt solve it. Only cables everywhere, no wifi. Restarted everything many times. If its like Vadim says, that something is causing it to pause, I dont understand what that could be. And again, the pause is only a tenth of a second or something. Doesnt happen often, guess I can live with it, but its still a bit annoying and I would liek to know whats causing it.
The team has investigated this and confirmed that Denafrips is sending these stop commands to Roon unexpectedly. Our team is not in a position to resolve this symptom as the command originates in the Denafrips device firmware. Please reach out to Denafrips support, if you haven’t already, to escalate directly with their team.
@JAM, can you please confirm whether you also have a Denafrips DAC in this setup? Otherwise, we’ll split your post into a dedicated thread for troubleshooting. Thank you!
This thread will shortly close without any new responses, so we wanted to reach out to see if there were any further questions. To summarize our conclusion here, what you’re seeing is a consequence of the Denafrips firmware, and you’ll need to escalate to their support team directly.
It was never a problem for 6 months before this so what you say can not be correct. The Denafrips firmware has not been changed. This problem happened after a Roon update in january.
