· This is an intermittent problem. When I start to play a file (either at the beginning or during the track) instead of music, I hear a fast stuttering sound (the music is vaguely audible in the background). I can usually resolve it by pausing playback and restarting. Somtimes I have to go back to the start of the file. Unfortunately, it keeps recurring, at least a couple of times a day. I have a Pink Faun Scion. Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out. Does the issue only happen with one audio device, or does it happen with multiple? What is the model/manufacturer of the audio devices that you are playing to? Does the issue happen when there is a sample rate switch and then next/previous track is a different sample rate? If so, you can try to set a Resync Delay in Device Setup, or use MUSE (Roon DSP) to resample everything to one sample rate and see if this helps.
Thanks Noris. I have had this issue on 2 separate Roon Core setups. The first was on the Grimm MU1 playing to the Grimm LS1be active speakers (with DAC and Amps built in.) The issue was fairly rare in this setup. The second is the Pink Faun Scion playing thru the MU1 (here being used only as a digital preamp/volume control), and then on to the LS1be speakers. The PF Scion is new, and the issue has cropped up more frequently. I’m not sure about the sample rate switch – I will pay attention going forward. Thanks. – David
Hi Noris – The issue recurred today. I took note of the sample rate of the “before and after” files, and they were both standard Red Book 44/16. I agree w/ your notion that it has something to do with syncing, but it doesn’t seem that a change to a different sample rate is behind the problem. Thanks. — David
Thanks for the additional information. It is unclear if you’ve attempted either of @noris suggestions above:
Test out using Resync delay - 500ms is a good starting point. If that doesn't work, try gradually increasing it from there. Access this setting in the device setup window:
