· So Tidal specifically will constantly say unavailable check storage device. So I have to logout and log back in constantly. Not sure what is happening.

Hello @Abrahams_Bogere

Thank you for reaching out.

The “check storage device” error you’re seeing can be a bit misleading, but it points to two main possibilities:

1. Database/Cache Corruption (The “Software” side) Roon keeps a local cache of Tidal metadata. If this cache gets corrupted, Roon loses the “handshake” with Tidal and asks you to log in again.

 • To fix this: Go to Settings → Services, log out of Tidal, then stop your Roon Server. Find your Roon Database folder, go to the /Cache folder, and delete the folder named tidal. Restart and log back in.
2. SSD Health (The "Hardware" side) Since the error explicitly mentions a "storage device," we can't rule out that your SSD might be struggling. If the drive where your Roon Database is installed has failing sectors or intermittent connectivity, Roon will lose access to its files and crash the Tidal session.

3. Network (Verizon Home Internet) Cellular-based internet like Verizon’s can sometimes have DNS shifts. If the above don’t help, try setting your router’s DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google) for a more stable connection to Tidal’s servers.

Please check your SSD health if possible and let us know what hardware you’re using. We’ll be here to help you narrow this down!

How do I check the SSD health? Is there a scan I can do or something?

I’ll check the other tips.

Hi @Abrahams_Bogere,

Can you please share a screenshot of the RoonOS web admin page here? That should have some basic diagnostic indication of a failing SSD, like a RoonServer instance that has been online for an unexpectedly short time.

If the SSD is a 2.5" SATA drive, you can temporarily remove it and connect it to a Windows or Mac machine with the manufacturer’s tool (e.g., Samsung Magician, Crucial Storage Executive, etc.) to check health.

We definitely recommend reassigning the DNS service (step three shared above). Anecdotally, failed URL resolutions cause this problem quite often, and a reliable DNS server like Cloudflare can help reduce the frequency.
