What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?

· Rockna Wavedream Net and chord Dave. I use a Charlin BNC cable between them.

Describe the issue

I have a Rockna Wavedream Net. It’s running Roon server on it. I use a SPDIF BNC cable to my Chord Dave. No matter what BNC port I use on the Chord Dave, Roon loses the connection with the zone for a second and then the zone appears back but the playback stops when the zone is disconnected. It happens every 3-5 songs.

Describe your network setup

Using WiFi mesh with TPLink Deco 5 units. From one unit I use an RJ45 cable to the Rockna Wavedream Net.

Hello @Dusty ,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track when this issue next occurs? We can enable diagnostics for your account and see if there are any specific errors occuring around your timestamp. Are other zones remaining stable, or do they also disappear?

Sure, I will do that next time I have a listening session. Thanks.

Sounds good @Dusty!

In the meantime, could you also temporarily test out setting up a direct ethernet connection from your wavedream to your primary router?

The simpler you can get your network setup, the better! Just temporarily, as it’ll really help fastrack any potential network-related issues.

We’ll be monitoring for your reply - thanks @Dusty!

It happened today, 8th of November 2025 at 23:24 (11:24 PM), UTC+3 time zone. The network was setup as you requested.

Good day @Dusty !

I hope you’re doing well today.

We have analyzed the analytics response came from your Roon Server and can see that the songs are being stopped due to large time drift.

The round-trip time was of about 88,5 ms which is quite a lot for Roon Transport Protocol.

While there is not much of an explicit reasons for that we may assume that it is happening because the CPU in your Streamer does not match our minimum requirements (your streamer has intel celeron 3955U while Roon requires at least Intel Core i3 ).

Thus, can we please ask you to try to install Roon Server on your PC and connect it to the Streamer via HDMI or USB (whatever is available in streamer) and play music from PC to the streamer ?

Thanks!

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards.

Hi.

Thanks for getting back to me. The streamer was working fine until 2 versions ago of Roon. It was working perfectly. The audio system hasn’t changed, the network hasn’t changed, the library size didn’t change. So, as long as the streamer has been working fine since January 2025, used daily for 10-12 hours non stop, I don’t see how the CPU is to blame. Not to mention that this issue was addressed in the latest update of Roon. The exact issue I’m describing. Tomorrow I’ll be in a call with Nucu from Rockna to troubleshoot the streamer to make sure it’s nothing going on in the streamer. I’ll get back to you with the results.

Thanks.

Hello @Dusty,

We’ve enabled an additional diagnostic layer for your account. To activate it, please restart your server a few times, then reproduce the issue once more.

When the issue occurs, note the exact timestamp and let us know here — this will help us review the relevant diagnostic data.

Hi.

It happens again today, 14th of November 2025, around 13:00 (1 PM) UTC+3 time zone.

With Nucu from Rockna I looked over the logs. We disabled the file analysis both on demand and the background one and the cpu load was reduced to 1% while playing music. This has improved the situation slightly but losing the zone still happens, although it takes longer to happen.

Thanks.

Hello @Dusty,

Thank you for the update.

We’ve retrieved a fresh diagnostic report from your instance and will review and discuss it with our QA and R&D teams.

Please stay tuned for further updates.

Your local network might need some re-arranging to support Roon.

· None of the suggestions have helped me. I'd like to submit a support request.

Any news @vadim ?

Good day @Dusty !

The ticket raised to R&D is still being discussed internally.

However, you might want to try out the Early Access version of the Roon.

It contains fixes for the issue similar to yours.

You can find more details about it here:

.

Let us know please if you struggle with anything.

Regards.

Unfortunately I cannot install the early access version on the Rockna Wavedream Net. There is no such option on the device. The reinstall button reinstalls the version that it already has in some folder that I do not have access to.

I just wanted to mention that this worked fine until 2 versions ago. So it’s something that was introduced lately. I don’t know if it matters, but Roon Arc never worked for me. Locally it worked until today. It no longer sees the server, even though the phone and the server are on the same network. No change in network settings.

Hello @Dusty

I wanted to touch base with some good news, which is that our technical team has been able to reproduce this behavior, and we’ve opened up a bug report with our developers.

While I can’t say for certain when this bug will be fixed, getting things reproduced in-house is a critical first step, and I will keep this thread up to date as the team passes along feedback and work begins to get this resolved.

Thanks again for the report!

Thank you. Hope it gets fixed quickly!

Hello @Dusty

Thank you for the update. We will keep you posted in case of any updates avaliable.
