Hey guys, How’s it going with internet radio feature progress. I’m preparing to dump Lightning DS and switch to a Roon only device and the sticking point is internet radio. I understand I can enter a URL, etc. However, this is inelegant and inconvenient as I’m sure you’ll agree. When we we able to able to search for stations by location, genre, create favorites, etc? Please advise.
I’d have to say I agree there. I love much about Roon, but if we’re honest the Internet Radio isn’t really up to Roon standards.
I use it daily so I’m really glad it’s there, but in terms of user experience…
Would be good to see improvements.
Bump, bump!!
Agree. Some sort of integration with “tunein” etc. (I believe this is the way Squeezebox/LMS works with its radio search function).
Lightning DS, the interface for the Auralic Aries, has it well implemented so I use it now for radio but I’ll be upgrading to a different streamer soon where I’ll only have Roon.
Yes, a proper search facility would be welcomed, it’s about the only feature in Roon that has not moved up a notch. Currently it’s functional, but I am grateful that we have that at least. I enjoy IR.
As a new subscriber the fact that no one from Roon has responded after several days is disappointing to say the least. I shouldn’t have to ask repeatedly about the ETA for an already promised feature. Expecting a response is a pretty reasonable given this is the reason for this forum in the 1st place. It also isn’t an unfair expectation to want a fully fleshed out internet radio feature set in software of Roon’s caliber and cost. That means location searches, genre searches, tune in radio integration, and favorites to name a few features common among most software platforms. The courtesy of a reply would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah - this isn’t something esoteric, like I want a category filter for Canadian Opera! (Nothing against Canadian Opera!)
You may want to keep it real. The original question in this thread is from two days ago. There’s a thing called “weekend”, even for the roon people.
What’s more, always remember: you don’t ask for ETAs. No matter what. You just don’t.
LOL I wasn’t aware of that “rule”. Just keeping’ it real
The Roon team don’t respond to every topic on their forums - at least not unless they have something specific to share. They never give ETA’s anyway, even for things they’ve flagged as being on their roadmap - it’s just not how they work. Also the feature is technically already there, it could just use a little love.
There are thousands of posts here, so it’s pretty unlikely to expect a personal response let alone quickly. That said I’ve no doubt that between the whole team things are all read in time, and hopefully in this case will be taken onboard and considered properly.
Thank you for your reply and considered explanation. I guess I’m basing my frustration on past experience. I’ve posted questions perviously and they’ve always been answered really quickly by a Roon team member.
Fair enough - they definitely try.
My guess is as the user base and feature set increases - along with an increase in forum traffic - the less likely we’ll see them post specifically. They’re a small team and they have to develop and support the product as well as hang around here.
I’d like a better radio feature as well. But I’m happy to wait for it in Roon time because so far they’ve kept me amused and happy with many other wonderful features and additions. It’s kind of like the gift that keeps on giving (except it wasn’t a gift; I paid for it myself, lol. When I suggested my wife get me Roon for Christmas she said: “what’s a Roon?”) I have no doubt we’ll get our radio wish.
