I found both of those URLs, if they work, by using the same approach as described above for TuneIn stations, but instead looking at the View Page Source on iheart.com. Neither of the stations you seek are on TuneIn because they are iheart radio stations, none of which I believe are on TuneIn. Let me know if the above URLs work. Thanks. JCR
PS I went and tried these two URLs myself. Neither worked, unfortunately. I guess this is because Roon supports the TuneIn radio URL format but not the iheart format. Sorry to get your hopes up, but it was an experiment worth trying. JCR
Thanks for the attempt, Jeff. Iāve loaded lots of urls into Roon from various sources but canāt seem to get these. Usually I pull it right off the stationās own web site rather than a service like iHeart or TuneIn.
Ok, I have found a recent set of instructions on the web as to how to garner the actual URL for iheart radio stations. The example is for iheart80s 103.7 from San Francisco. I copied the link example into Roon and indeed it plays that very iheart radio station. Try this yourself: http://c10.prod.playlists.ihrhls.com/4342/playlist.m3u8
The way to do this is apparently to use mitmproxy https://mitmproxy.org/ to look at the traffic for the iheart app.
This is past my pay grade. Hereās the link to the article that explains:
Can one of you Roon geniuses out there test this (using Windows for mitmproxy, please) and do a tutorial, video or otherwise, of how to install and use mitmproxy to discover the native URL for any iheart stream? Thanks. JCR
Yes that would be better, though the direct url does work fineā¦itās just a matter of finding it and of course knowing what stations you want as there is no browse facility. In my case I only listen to FIP and WFMU so Iām OK for now.
Iām interested in streaming a local radio station via Roon, WCPE. It is a classical station near Raleigh, N.C. If anyone could provide the url I would appreciate it.
