[Investigating] B1643 requires MacOS 15

Applied this version upgrade to my server running MacOS 14 only to find it won’t work. Did I miss this in the release notes somewhere?

Hi, @Astr0b0y, apologies for the trouble. Could you please provide the following info:

  1. Is there an error message when you try to run Roon on that machine?
  2. Run the following test:
  • Open Console.app (this is part of macOS You can command-spacebar and then type “console” to find it).
  • Start broadcasting the log
  • Try running RoonServer
  • Pause the print in Console
  • Select the output (cmd + a)
  • Open any text editor
  • Paste what you’ve just copied
  • Save the file
  • Upload it here

Thanks!

Ivan

Thanks Ivan. I was wrong about how old the OS is on my Roon server, which also means the version of console is so old it doesn’t support pausing the stream. I have sent in console log.rtf just now.

This is the OS message when launching Roon:

Have gone back to public production version for now.

Thank you, @Astr0b0y, I will pass this info to our dev team.

Hey @Astr0b0y , the thread title threw us off a little, but yes, looking at your screenshot it all makes sense now.

With this Early Access build, macOS 12 (Monterey) is the new minimum supported version. We should have mentioned this in the EA release notes - we’ll make sure it’s clearly called out before the production release so no one is caught off guard.

The reason for the bump is .NET10, which no longer supports macOS versions below 12. It’s a hard requirement on their side, so unfortunately not something we can work around. For what it’s worth, macOS 10.15 (Catalina) has been out of Apple’s support window since 2022 as well.

Please let us know if you have other questions
