I am trying the new iOS remote app to stream from my Mac. I see that it would stream up to DSD 2.8 from the Lightning to USB output of my iPad to my DAC. Can someone confirm that this output is truly bit-perfect and no loss in sound quality?
Yes. There is often a misconception about / conflation of the 48k limitations of the iOS lightning audio module. This limitation does not apply to the interface itself when connected to a proper DAC. I’ve often used my iPad to record 24/96 audio with a USB microphone, for example.
