Description Of Issue
I purchased the iPad especially for Roon, it never managed to connect to Roon Core.

It tries to connect to
Windows 7/:::ffff 192/168/1/18 version 1.7 (build 511) stable
connecting…
connection failed
Over and over again. not even once connected.

On the other hand Roon connects easily with my Android cell phone
and other iPads or iPhones I used for testing.
I also use Android via Samsung A9

It seems odd and I need your help.

Hello @Coby_Dimant,

Welcome to the forum. I have a few questions to begin troubleshooting:

  • Is there any change if you re-install the Roon app on your iPad?
  • Is the iPad connected to the same router or access point as the working Android phone?
  • Do you have any VPNs on the iPad?

Thank you Norris for your reply.
I re-instaled roon on the I Pad and it made no change.
The Android device and the IPad are conected to my only router. Same net for sure.
I don’t have VPN
(I tried one other IPad and one IPhone that managed to connect to Roon.
I hope you will manage to help me solve this problem.

Hi @Coby_Diamant,

Thank you for the additional information. Next, I would like to take a look at diagnostics from your Core to see if there are any additional clues in that regard.

Can I please ask that you reproduce this issue, note the exact local time + date you try connecting to the Core via the problematic iPad and let me know this info here?

Once I have a timestamp I can enable diagnostics mode for your account, and what that does is automatically upload a log set to our servers for analysis. Thanks!

Hi Noris,
It happens every time of day.
I am now trying to connect. The local time is 13.48 (1.48 PM)
The I-Pad is trying to connect every 10 seconds .repeatedly.
Do you need to look at the registartion page to Roon?
I can attach it if necessary.
Coby Dimant

Coby, there are a few things you might check while Noris is assisting:

  1. Some people have had security software firewall problems that have not permitted their iPads to connect. You might check to see whether your firewall is blocking the Roon app.
  2. You didn’t list your router/switch. There are a few that need specific settings for the Roon app to work. See this link.
  3. I know it’s silly to ask but is your iPad firmware up to date?

Good luck!
