iPad - Add track to playlist not immediately refreshing [Ticket In]

in the past when adding a track to a playlist via the iPad app, the playlist name that the track had been added to would immediatley be refreshed next to the track. In some recent update this has stopped, and now I have to leave the view and go back in to see the update. The playlist is updating, just a clunkier experience than it used to be.

Hi @ACvitus,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your feedback!

Our team will take a closer look into this, and will follow up with more information as soon as possible! :+1:

noticed that this appears to be an issue for local content, but adding tracks to playlists for Qobuz titles works as expected. I’m running latest ROCK on a NUC.

I have the same problem

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to give you an update on this case. Right now it’s in the queue for our QA team to test out. The good news is that we were able to reproduce this issue in house. I cannot give an exact timeline for a resolution but I wanted to assure you that this hasn’t been forgotten. Thank you for your continued patience!

Hello @support,

This issue has been going on for over a year, and it still doesn’t work.

Honestly… seriously?

Proof here: iPad - Add track to playlist not refreshing

You’re frankly very lucky there isn’t any real competitor to Roon.

Your support is terrible.
A few staff members drop into threads just to make it look like you’re taking care of people, then nothing…
And the ticket gets automatically closed.

Honestly, you’re really lucky.

I did manage to find a workaround. Once the track has been added to the playlist(s), you just need to tap the heart (Favorite) to make them finally appear

yep, I have 2.58 (1606) on my iPad and the issue noted in the link above is still ongoing. There was a time when this worked consistently, but that was long ago…

Hi @Patrick_BERNARD2 and @ACvitus,

Thanks for bringing this back up! We’re curious - how are you specifically adding the track to the playlist? Clicking the three-dot menu associated with the track?

If you press and hold to select the track (similar to if you were going to select multiple tracks) and attempt to add the track to a playlist, does this method produce the playlist link under the added track?

Our team is discussing this case internally. I’ll be sure to share any updates that occur.

Thank you!

thanks for looking at this. Whether I use Windows desktop or iPad app, I get the same behaviour. E.g. if I go into an album and click on … to access the Add to playlist button, on selecting a playlist I get a message saying the track has been added, but the list of playlists associated with the track is not updated immediately. If I go out of the album view and go back in, the list of playlists shown for the track is then updated. This is a regression that came in a long time ago, there was a time when the update was immediate.

An exception is clicking on the heart button, that immediately updates to show that the track is now linked to my smart playlist of favourite tracks. So maybe the logic works differently for smart playlists?

I couldn’t solve this by using a long press method.

It’s the same for me. No improvement. I also use Roon IPad and Roon macOS. Same punishment. Roon is hosted on a Synology NAS.

Hello @ACvitus / @Patrick_BERNARD2 ,

Apologies for the slow response here. Can you please confirm you’re still seeing this issue on the latest Roon version? There have been several releases since your message, so I wanted to double-check. If you can please share a short video or .GIF of the behavior, it would be most helpful.

here is a screen recording of me adding a track to a playlist, the playlist tag does not immediately show on the track that’s been added, I then go up a level to the album view and then drop down and the playlist tag is now present.https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/umf4g7aeaorwv041qo1z8/ScreenRecording_04-19-2026-19-31-23_1.MP4?rlkey=wf98g2vcg1x8k1zjar1rvuwnb&st=zxt6g2tz&dl=0

Thanks for the video @ACvitus - it’s clear the prior fix didn’t seem to help you. We’ve forwarded the information and video over to our development team for additional insight.

We’ll be in touch once they’ve reviewed further, and thanks for your very long-standing patience here. :folded_hands:

Hi everyone,

An update here. This ticket remains in the pipeline at this time, but we’ll provide more information as soon as possible about any potential timeline to release. We recognize this has been a long-standing source of frustration for iPad users.
