Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

Roon is slow, freezing or won’t start

· Roon won’t start up at all

· On my iPad, Sonore will not find my i9 Sonicorbiter and roon.
Cannot locate roon on the Sonicorbiter or my Ultra Rendu.

Tell us about your home network

· Verizon fiber to the house.
Cat 8 cable to Archer AX80 router

Cat 8 from Archer to FMC fiber media converter for audio.
Fiber optic to listening room, connecting to SW6-SFP LPS & gigabit switch for audio. I tested this switch another piece of equipment and it is working fine.

Ethernet cable to Ultra Rendu, Sonic Transporter i9, Synology storage.

The ultra Rendu has its usual, one green, one yellow light next to the ethernet connection.

The sonic transporter i9 has one yellow and one orange light next to the ethernet connection from the ultra Rendu and a yellow and the green at the connection to the network switch.

I use an iPad to control the system. Never any issues with that.

I have use this configuration for three years with no issues. Two days ago it stopped working.

Did you reboot every relevant device, like router, server, rendu?

What is the result of going to this page on your iPad? http://sonicorbiter.com/

I have rebooted everything numerous times. When I go to that page it usually shows the sonic transporter on top and ultra rendu below with them showing being connected at the right side of the page. Currently there is nothing at the right side of the page.
Thanks

is it possible for you to connect both the Sonicorbiter and the Rendu directly to your router, with other, standard ethernet cables?
It sounds like there is something wrong in the way they are connected at the moment, like a faulty cable or so.

I have been using this configuration for 3-4 years with no issue.

I have swapped out the ethernet cables to a previous set I was using.
If only one or the other was not showing up it would make more sense.

Hello @Brad_Rockwood,

Thank you for the detailed description and for confirming the troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried.

We’ve checked our diagnostics on the Roon side and we haven’t seen your Roon Server connect to our services for the past few days. This would also explain why your iPad is unable to locate the Core.

Since your Roon Server is running on a SonicTransporter / Sonicorbiter-based system, our ability to troubleshoot at the OS and hardware level is limited, as this is a third-party platform.

At this point, we recommend reaching out directly to Sonore support for further assistance. They’ll be best equipped to help investigate:

  • why the SonicTransporter and UltraRendu are no longer registering on the network
  • why they are not appearing on the sonicorbiter.com page
  • any potential OS, service, or network interface issues on the devices themselves

Once the SonicTransporter is back online and visible on the network, Roon should automatically become discoverable again.

Please let us know if you need anything further from our side.

Thanks, I am waiting to hear from them.
