I’ve been on vacation, had both iPhone and iPad with me. Coming back home, I had the iPad powered off during travel (not so the iPhone).
When I started the iPad again and wanted to use the Roon Remote, only “Looking for your Roon Server” showed. I reinstalled the Remote, which didn’t help.
Every now and then it suddenly finds my server, shows “Connecting …” and the correct IP address and host name for the RoonServer next to a red dot, but never actually connects. It just goes back to “Looking for your Roon Server” after a while. I tried entering the host name or the IP address, but that didn’t help.
Meanwhile, Roon Remote on the iPhone works as it always did. No connection problems whatsoever. I even checked if both Remotes are connected to the same WiFi AP, yes they were, iPhone worked, iPad didn’t.
I also connected the iPad to all 3 APs in the house, rebooted the iPad, switched WiFi on and off, none of that helped.
EDIT: Just to note that: The Remote on the iPad worked without problems before I went on vacation. If I’m not mistaken, both the Remotes and the Server were updated while I was on vacation. They all have the latest version (2.71.01683).
EDIT 2: I can access other software that runs on the same computer as the Roon Server from my iPad without problems, namely the configuration interface of HQPlayer Embedded (via Safari as well as via HQPlayer Client).
Hm, ok. The iPad was still on iPadOS 26.5.2 because problems with space on a 32GB iPad.
As this was the only difference between the devices, I went through the process of updating the iPad to iPadOS 26.6.1 by connecting it to a Mac.
Afterwards it worked. Not sure if the OS version in connection with the latest Roon Remote version really was the problem, or if the update mysteriously reset some stuff.
