iPad unable to connect to Roon server for the first time in a year (ref#FPYDM4)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Can’t reach my Server, remotes or ARC

Can’t connect to my Server, remotes or ARC

· Other ARC issues

Tell us what's going on

· I connect to my Roon with an iPad. I get a message that states that it cannot connect to my server. I do not know how to check network settings or firewall. We have had this set up for a year and tis is the first time we’ve had trouble. I wondering if we should just try to reinstall altogether? Will this cause us to lose all of our playlists, etc?
Thank you for your help. I am not technically sophisticated.

Hey @Garry_Lane,

Thanks so much for taking time to write in and share your report!

Before anything else, what happens if you press ‘Select a different Roon Server’ - sometimes this will prompt you with a screen that shows your current server active. Let me know what you see here.

If that doesn’t help, restarting Roon Server would be the next best troubleshooting step. What are you running your server on? See if you’re able to safely stop Roon Server from running, and then reboot the machine itself.

We’ll be monitoring for your reply and results, thank you! :folded_hands:

Ben, when I selected that I needed help finding server it took me to the help screen.

My iPad which I have always used to connect is on the network.

The Roon Server is powered up and the cable from Roon to the Heigel is securely connected.

I do not know how to check the IP address.

Thank you

Hi @Garry_Lane,

We’re unfortunately unable to see a Nucleus or any devices tied to your account. If you check your router settings > devices list - do you see your Nucleus active and online?

How is your Nucleus connected to your router? Can you set up a temporary direct ethernet connection, and reboot both devices?

Let me know if this helps. Thanks, Garry!

The devices, Roon and Hiegel are connected by cables. I do not see the live connection of the Roon on the modem, only the Hegel. I will reboot both.

I spent a couple of hours with the Netgear folks on the telephone yesterday.
Our Hegel 160 is connected by Cat 6 cable to the modem (nighthawk Ax 6.) Our Roon nucleus is also connected by Cat 6. They have always been hard connected by cable. (About two years since we bought the system) ) Rebooting does not work. The Hegel and all other devices on our WiFi, phones, laptops etc come on line. The Nucleus continues to remain off line. We checked all ports on modem and they are working.
Next steps? It appears to be a nucleus issue.
We use an IPad to run our system. Thank you Benjamin.

None of these solutions worked. However, I have Chat GPT 5 and entered the problem there. It took me through step by step and when a step didn’t work, it explained exactly what that meant and what to do next. Took about an hour. Thanks to Chat GPT we now have music again after 2 months of silence. I also used CHATGPT for my office computer system when something didn’t work. Chat GPT solved that problem too.

Hi @Garry_Lane,

It looks like your Nucleus is currently running version 2.58, while your iOS devices are updated to the latest version. Please go to the Nucleus web administration interface and update your Roon Server from there. After the update, everything should start working smoothly.

Let us know how it goes. Thanks!
