Describe the issue

I have a lifetime subscription.
Suddenly today my iPads and iPhone cannot connect to my Roon Nucleus. One of the iPads and my iPhone would be able to connect to my Mac laptop as a server. This iPad shows the Nucleus but the connect button is grayed out = not active.
The Nucleus light is on. I have rebooted it three times.
In my downstairs office I have an iMac and connect to Roon with this device. The iMac connects to Roon readily and plays music.

Hi @David_Kumpe,

Thank you for your post.

According to our diagnostic servers, your Roon devices are running different builds.

Your Nucleus is running an outdated Roon version (build 1608). The Mac remote itself is running a slightly older version, 1598, and the iOS devices are on the latest version. The build parity issue is most likely the cause for these connection problems.

Let’s first take a few steps on the Mac. Without connecting to Mac server:

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our [Downloads Page]

Do you have access to the Nucleus webUI? You can reinstall RoonOS (this will not affect your database or settings) to automatically update your Nucleus to the latest RoonServer build.

Next, please ensure that your MacOS and iOS devices have local network permissions toggled on for Roon. This will be in Settings → Services → Privacy & Settings.

On the iOS device settings, in your WiFi Details for the home network, set the Private WiFi Address to “Fixed.”

Lastly, ensure multicast forwarding is toggled on in any of your managed network components. Try to disable AP isolation or band steering settings.

We’ll watch for your reply and we’re eager to assist further. Thank you!
