Description of Issue

The volume on my iPhone 11 (ios 16.2) goes to full volume after opening Roon. I’m not playing it on the phone just using the app to direct the music to other points (Sonos Beam typically). I just happened to notice that whenever I used Roon my iPhone’s volume was at max regardless of where it was before opening Roon. Can’t say when this started.

If I just open Roon and not play anything it doesn’t happen BUT if I do play something it will happen after that even if I just open the app. I’ve re-loaded the app.

Hey @Joseph_Smith,

Thanks for taking the time to write in! If you’ve completely removed and reinstalled the app and the issue occurs, you may be experiencing a known issue we’re actively working on.

When you remove the remote app, please power down the device and re-install over a stable network.

Does this issue occur when using Roon Arc?

As a temporarily workaround, you can setup a decreasing volume automation whenever you load Roon on your mobile device:

In the meantime, we do have a short-term workaround that sets up automation to avoid any additional issues while we work on a fix. This involves downloading the ‘Shortcuts’ app from the app store.

After downloading this app, follow the steps below:

  1. Locate and open the Shortcuts app.
  2. If you don’t see an Automation choice, but you do see < Shortcuts at the top of the screen, click it.
  3. Click Automation.
  4. Click Create Personal Automation.
  5. Scroll down the New Automation screen until you find App, and click it.
  6. Click Choose, next to App.
  7. Find and select Roon.
  8. Click Done at the top.
  9. Select the radio button for Is Closed.
  10. Deselect the radio button for Is Opened.
  11. Click Next at the top.
  12. Click Add Action.
  13. In the search bar, type: Volume.
  14. Select Set Volume.
  15. Adjust Set volume to to the appropriate %.
  16. Optionally turn off Ask Before Running.
  17. Click Done at top.

Please let me know if this workaround is functional for you while we continue to deep dive this issue :+1:
