Hello @nbond37

Since you’re running macOS, the behavior you’re seeing is consistent with the newer, stricter Local Network permission controls in the recent macOS releases.

Please try the following steps:

  1. Open macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network
  2. Make sure Roon and Roon Server are both enabled
  3. Even if they are already enabled, please toggle them off and back on
  4. Fully quit Roon Server from the macOS menu bar / task bar
  5. Reboot your Mac
  6. After reboot, launch Roon again and check if the devices is avaliable again.

Once these permissions are refreshed and the system restarted, your audio devices should reappear.

Please let us know if the issue persists after these steps, and we’ll continue from there.

Hi sgain

….. tried your steps to the letter and still Roon app on iphone air won’t appear …..

In iPhone Settings Apps, make sure the Roon application has access to the local network.

If it’s already enabled, switch it off and then back on again.

If that doesn’t work, check that iPhone and Roon Server are on the same network subnet and the iPhone can see the machine running Roon Server.

I suggest using a network scanner app such as Fing to do this.

Hello @nbond37,

Following up on Carl’s excellent suggestions above, please let us know how it goes after you check the Local Network permissions directly in your iOS device settings. You can find this by opening your device’s Settings, scrolling down to Roon, and ensuring Local Network is toggled on (or toggling it off and back on if it is already green).

If that doesn’t resolve the connection issue, please also let us know if your iOS device and the Mac running your Roon Server are definitely on the exact same Wi-Fi network band and subnet.

Hello

…. local connection toggled on and off and noticed that ip address macmini m4 which las Roon server has a different ip address than the Roon app on the iphone air ip address …… so tried to do a scan thru the app on iphone sir and put in the correct or same as macmini and it still did not work …… strangly the ilhone 16 picks up the Roon app and can navigate with it ……. those are the results

Hi @nbond37,

Thanks for the follow-up!

Just to triple confirm, have you now adjusted your local subnets to confirm that all your Roon devices are running on the same local subnet? Here is more info on this:

Once you’ve confirmed this, see if any of the following steps help:

Disable Private Wi-Fi Address for that network iPhones randomize MAC addresses by default, which can cause IP assignment issues. Go to Settings → Wi-Fi → tap your network name → turn off Private Wi-Fi Address. Reconnect to the network and try again.

If that doesn’t help, and you haven’t yet - it may be helpful to remove the Roon mobile app on your issue mobile device and perform a fresh install.

Let us know if any of the above help! :folded_hands:

Hello

I disabled private wifi address on iPhone and reinstalled app … also verified they are on the same subnet address and all was ok … so after a reinstall the Roon app worked again … Success ( cross our fingers ) Big thank you note: will repeat steps for all devices and again if needed … bye.
