Describe the issue
I am one of your first lifetime members and have an old PC. When you changed from Core to Server, startup became clumsy (it never sees server at first), but would work. After this last software update, my iPhone remote software will not connect, even when roon operates well on the PC. BTW, Roon arc has never functioned. Mark
Describe your network setup
An HP ENVY PC connected to an Apple router, with wired connection to Linn Klimax Pre/DAC. Still works great. My iPhone just does not want to see the server/core.
Hi @Mark_DeWeirdt,
Thanks for reaching out to us. I’m going to divide this response into two parts to address your two issues separately.
For your issue connecting remotes to your server. Do you have any remote devices you can test besides your iPhone? What happens when you try to connect your iPhone to your server? Can you share the screen that you see? Also please check to make sure Roon, RoonServer and RAATServer are allowed through your firewall.
For your issue connecting to ARC can you please share a screenshot of your Roon settings → Roon ARC page? Usually there is an error message that should help us figure out the problem. Alternatively you can try setting up Tailscale on your server. This article will walk you through that.
Thanks for helping. If it’s ok with you let’s stay on the room remote issue, arc can wait. When I launch the roon app on my iPhone, while my roon core is clearly running I get an endless searching icon. See attached. I can connect with my Surface pro. Everything is latest software versions loaded.
Since you’re running Roon 2.0 on you’re devices as well as your server, there’s no need to have the Roon 1.8 mobile app downloaded on the device - feel free to remove it.
I see you host Roon and Roon Server on your windows machine - do you have any issues using Roon and connecting to your server while using the windows to navigate around Roon?
Since you are using a Windows PC, I would also verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.
You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.
I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.
Please update to the latest Roon release and verify that the iPhone still connects to RoonServer. Try reinstalling the Roon control app on the iPhone and toggling Private WiFi on/off in your network settings if the issue returns.
Concerning ARC, please follow the prompts in a new technical support request here and we’ll happily investigate. It’s best to keep forum threads dedicated to a single symptom. Thanks! https://account.roon.app/en/contact/new-ts-request
