Describe your network setup

n/a this is a software issue

Hi @MattG,

Thank you for the report. Three follow-up questions so we can investigate more closely:

  1. Out of curiosity, have you added the Homepod Mini to the Apple Home app?

  2. Can you provide the name of the track playing in Roon when this last occurred?

  3. What is the iOS version on this iPhone?

Hi Connor, thanks for reaching out.

  • The HomePod is on Apple home
  • The last song as far as I know was Legend Has It by Run the Jewels, or one of the next 4 songs
  • Current iOS version is iOS 18 beta 3, however this occurred on the latest official iOS 17 releases too.

Thanks!

Hi @MattG,

Thanks for the timestamp! Our team will investigate further and follow up with more information as soon as possible.

Hi @MattG ,

I’m re-opening the thread based on your message that this issue still occurs. Can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track playing when you are able to reproduce the issue again? We’ll take a look over the fresh diagnostics, thanks!

Thank you Noris! I will try this and get back to you ASAP

Hi @MattG,
No problem! We appreciate your willingness to work with us to solve this issue.

Replicated the issue on April 20th at 7:49pm MST. Curiously this time both up and down on the volume controls were reducing the volume rather than increasing - I seem to recall it doing the opposite.

Also, attempting to adjust the volume in Roon was resulting in simultaneous control of the ringer control of the phone.

In Roon settings on your iPhone, tap on the Setup tab.

Do you have ‘Enable Lock Screen Controls (Beta)’ enabled? Disable it. This feature is in Beta and is prone to misbehaving.

(Screenshot from google)

If already disabled, enable it then force close the app. Now open the app and disable it, then force close the app again. Now open the app, play music to the HomePod. Lock your screen, try the volume buttons.

If it still happens, this will need Roon’s input. Do you have another iOS device to try in a process of eliminating your iPhone.

I also note you’re running iOS 18 Beta 3. This could be a factor even if it was on iOS 17.

Thanks for the suggestion. Followed the steps, but the issue persists.

I’m currently on iOS 18.4.1.

Thanks @MattG,

We still have a ticket in with our development team, but it hasn’t yet reached the top of their queue.

Do you notice if this happens when using Roon Arc as well?

Roon ARC works great. ARC seems to interface directly with the endpoint, and gives you the HomePod graphics within the volume slider.

Thanks for confirming ARC works as expected, I’ve noted this in your ticket @MattG .
