Is it possible to rip and decode a DTS-CD to a 5.1 PCM FLAC file?

I have a DTS CD that I’ve ripped via dbPoweramp so I can play it via Roon.

The problem is, it remains encoded as DTS 5.1, so Roon must send the signal completely unaltered to a device/endpoint that can decode DTS. This means Roon features such as Muse, Headroom Adjustment, Volume Leveling, etc, must all be turned off, otherwise the signal will be altered and the endpoint will no longer recognize the DTS signal, resulting in just hiss being played.

Is there a way to rip a DTS-CD (or convert the existing file) so that the resulting file is decoded as PCM FLAC so that I can use Roon’s DSP features with it?

A Google search didn’t help with any clear answers. I suspect this means it may be difficult or impossible to do.

This is very old school, but if I recall correctly, there is a plug-in for foobar 2000 that decodes DTS files. It can save them as 5.1FLAC.

Thanks.:+1: I’ll give that a try and see how it goes. :crossed_fingers:

Update:

After a bit of figuring out how to do this in Foobar2000 (Google to the rescue!), I was able to successfully rip a DTS CD to 6 channel PCM/FLAC. I’m now able to apply DSP in Roon while playing the multichannel FLAC file.

Thanks! :grinning_face::+1:

Great that it worked with Foobar:+1:

Music Media Helper Music Media Helper (Tools for Multichannel Audio & Music Videos) | QuadraphonicQuad Home Audio Forum is also a good option. It’s like a Swiss army knife for all things multichannel:slightly_smiling_face:
