This would be useful for training the algorithm. I have a lot of old music on mp3s leftover from college. I like the recommendations I’m getting from having these tracks in my library, but I would much rather Roon grab the HQ version off of Qobuz instead of my circa 1999 mp3 at 128kbps.
In what context? Like where are you playing from?
- from albums, you should see Versions and can make one primary
- from Playlists, the new playlist optimizer should allow you to replace with better versions
- Roon Radio - not sure
all three. I can see how to handle it manually, but I would rather not do it manually. a work around I guess is to add artist to my library over time.
You can use Focus to zoom in on albums that need attention. For example …
You’ll still need to add an alternative from a streaming provider, or buy your own copy, but at least you can keep track of this by bookmarking this view.
thank you. I appreciate it.
soundiiz is your friend here (if you’re OK with the streaming version). Export your .mp3-album list via Roon’s export tool (the three dots): I’ve found that soundiiz matches a good portion of them (in my case 80%-plus). Mileage may vary, but this is perhaps the most elegant hack.
Buying may get mighty expensive, but is 100%-matched.
Roon most certainly picks a higher res version from a streaming service normally.
This needs a few fulfilled though:
- The album/track must be identified in Roon and associated with the proper composition/album.
- An online version with a higher bitrate must be present on your streaming service. (If a Version heading appears in the Album view, you can use this to see what versions are available)
We still haven’t got a way to prefer/weight which release we prefer, other than the “obsolete” MQA pref. selection.
Personally i prefer local content over streamed, even if the local version is Redbook and Qobuz holds a 24/44.1 as an example.
I have Roon Radio set to “limit to my library” in most instances which is okay with a local library of more than 200K tracks.
