If TIDAL hypothetically failed, I was initially thinking, hypothetically, that Roon would lose it’s appeal for my uses but I’m virtually certain I would continue with Roon even it only played non-streamed music. The interface is just too good.

Interesting how many complain Tidal is too expensive. Maybe Spotify is too cheap.

That’s the point,

As i say, Roon is a great service that makes my hobby easier by integrator my music library with tidal… Previously I had to continously switch between volumio and another program for Tidal during the listening.

Hopefully Roon will introduce other Hi-res music service to substitute Tidal.
If So, i will extend my subscription. Without Hi-res serrvices, Roon will loose its biggest advatage and usabilty.

The record companies are making most of their money now off of streaming services.

I can see it now! A hi res streaming service from Roon ! Hi res downloads too.

Spotify is doing a non-traditional IPO

That wishfull thinking has come up a couple of times overhere. If Tidal is in trouble because they have “only” 4.2 million subscribers how do you think a Roon streaming service with what? 30.000, maybe 50.000 subscribers would stand a chance? And also in highres wich requires a lot of bandwith wich ain’t free. Just curious but much would you be willing to pay for it?

It was a tongue in cheek comment . Of course I don’t expect it .

That’s o.k. Still curious what you and others would be willing to pay for it. I might want to start a highres streaming service myself

I think it’s useless to get carried away by some rumpurs that Tidal might cease to excist. There is nothing you can do about it other then keep your subscription to make sure they don’t loose your cashflow as well.

20-25 USD/month . 30-40/month is too much . I’d go back to 100% buying used cd’s at that price . which I still do now but not as much .

And the future viability of the music industry is helped how?

May be in trouble - no new “Masters” since 3 weeks?

@Lonek,
Checkout The most complete list of MQA albums so far found on Tidal new tracks reported on : 2017-12-23 and 2018-01-02.

Thanks

Thanks! Great resource.

Just above 2500 tracks ?

http://www.meridianunplugged.com/downloads/MQA_List.csv
Correct ?

Shouldn’t it be more ?

The link above lists 10,017 albums.

Hi @R1200CL,

Not sure where you got 2500 tracks from, what application did you use to open the CSV file?

The downloadable CSV lists: 10,016 albums (totaling 123,008 tracks).

Interesting news regarding Deezer - now with MQA - maybe a Roon alternative for Tidal (or an addition)

Well, sadly that’s not quite that simple
