Is Tidal MAX actually lossless and not just relabeled MQA

It’s only showing CD due to my quality settings for Tidal, even though I now have Tidal MAX with the new pricing structure, even though i’m not able to increase the quality past CD quality in Roon.

What are you trying to play? I’ve always used an external DAC or sound card with both my Windows NUC and MacBook Pro if I am not using one of my streamers.

NUC with Windows 11 connected to my Loxjie D30 DAC.

Settings in Roon set to max. Always has, but I am coming from Tidal HiFi Plus. Have you tried disconnecting Tidal in Roon and login again?

Ah I’ve just noticed your earlier post.

I’ve tested your Offspring album. All tracks identify as 16 bit 44.1 kHz FLAC here. Except for one.

Gotta Get Away identifies as follows.

Bit odd though. My DAC doesn’t show the MQA logo as it normally does with an MQA file. Must be the MQA DSD mix…

I wonder whether Roon has to come up with an update to fully incorporate this latest Tidal change

Yeah I think it’s pretty funny and weird at the same time. Also with the roon issues, others have reported it on the forum today and I’ve restarted my server, and logged back into tidal as well as disabling it multiple tmes.

Probably as many people seem to be having issues.

Personally, I think it means that Tidal messed up with that album and left an MQA track but replaced all the others with the correct flac version. I have seen this happen with different services, where 1 track will be a different format than the others.

I have the same issue where everything is playing 16/44.1 even though I should be playing 24/96 on this album:
