Description Of Issue

Hi Experts
New to the software and like the interface. On my 14 day trial so consider me a newbie. Thumbed through some posts searching CXN but didn’t find too many similar issues related to what I am experiencing.

I have one issue and one inquiry.

First issue - In “Settings” “Audio” under “Roon tested”, Roon sees the CXNv2 via Chromecast. When “Enable” is selected, I see a connection on the screen of the CXNv2 from waiting on connection to a music symbol and pause appear. However, there is no zone created in Roon and the “Enable” button remains. So I can’t play files to the player. Has anyone ever run into this? I can open Chrome browser, enable Chromecast and stream content to the CXNv2 without issue from the same laptop Roon resides.

Second inquiry - I did notice there was an update on the CXNv2 lately. I see selection on input “Roon ready”. Can someone explain to me what that means? Does that mean it will now support streaming from a server or computer using Roon? Should I see this as a new audio connection? Do I need any additional downloads to make it work?

Thanks for your time

Follow up. Airplay and Chromecast now working. Not sure what I did, if I did anything to correct. Was messing with Bubbleupnp and downloaded java environment. I had rebooted everything before computer and CXN several times. Five days after installing it starts working, weird.

Now that at least for the time being that issue is resolved. Could someone share the new update that went to the CXNv2 where on the input menu it indicates “Roon Ready”? Is this associated with Chromecast, Airplay or something else? I was hoping to be able to stream my library if possible.

Hi there. I had a similar issue casting to the CXNv2 using Roon. It takes forever to initialize the stream - if it ever does. However my unit works very well with casting Soundcloud from my tablet or phone. I suspect that it is a Roon casting issue and not with the dac. I have been in touch with Cambridge about it - they recommended a factory reset which didn’t really help at all.

However the new Roon update has eliminated my need to cast to the CXN (other than when using Soundcloud), so I don’t need to figure out the casting issues with Roon anymore. Now it is recognized and plays perfectly. No additional software. You can select it in your audio zone and it will work up to 32/192 PCM and DSD 64 (although the internal DAC resampler converts it to PCM 384k before playback). Enable MQA core decoding in Roon if you use it in Tidal. Artwork is displayed and it works like a charm. Gave the unit a whole new lease on life!

Finally, got the streaming to work from my shared network drives. Had to change Roon Ready setting to “DoP for digital output” in order for connection to show up in audio. Very nice!! Currently nearly completed building NAS or server “haven’t figured out which way to go for now”. Based on my equipment now being Roon Ready for Library streaming, and chromecast + airplay + Tidal. Think i will be purchasing for a year a slap to Core on the NAS/server.

The UI is great. I haven’t had to much time to experiment with different views, logic etc. Am sure these thing can be tailored to my liking.

Other programs seem more cluttered and only support one or two outputs. I am glad Cambridge worked on providing Roon Ready function.

Thanks for your reply Gerry

Hi @Stephen_Storrs,

Welcome to the forum.

Roon Ready is a designation we provide to devices that pass our certification program. They are audio devices that have met our standards in the lab for implementing our RAAT Protocol.

It looks like you sorted out most of the issues before your case reached my queue, but if you have any further questions, feel free to reach out again!

Not sure others with CXNv2 having this issue or not. When powering up the cxnv2 and connecting to Roon via RAAT. Roon initially does not see the connection. To resolve this I have to toggle the Roon setting in the cxnv2 from DoP to PCM or vice versa. Once I do this it pops up in settings, audio as a valid connection. It works on ether setting and I can’t sonically tell the difference.
